just a few comments on the album:

Yes-I got your music and love it, very very quircky, unusual stuff you have there. Bob Ostertag (USA)
CD and catalog, all interesting…   Chris Cutler (UK)
Dear Wolfgang, finally found the chance to listen to your CD…which I enjoyed very much…. nice aesthetics.  best, Jon Rose (AUS)
… Your sounds are so great and I really enjoyed it !, …   Kiichiro Hayashi (JAP)
… In fact, the cutter sounds like a pair of old rusty scissors, a typical old fashion China made home scissors. My first response when first listen to it is: It’s speaking. Not only this one, I like some other tracks too. It is short but so well structured. It doesn’t sound like improvised to me. I wonder if you are able to play this music live because I would always like to play live on what the music is like …   Chan Wai Fat (HONG KONG)

(added June, 2019) excerpt from: Wild wonder inside and out at Alchemy 2019

New creative director Michael Pattison encouraged audiences to “embrace the strange” at this invigorating festival where the experiences counted for as much as the work.

Ben Nicholson

“Colour also played a significant role in one of the other ‘In Focus’ events – that of the work of Deborah S. Phillips. In a less conventional screening, Phillips presented her own work including her red-hued blend of collage, animation and text Capsicum (2008), and her overlaid, superimposed examination of green Im Grünen Bereich (2017). Phillips has spent a decade utilising found objects, natural materials and text to create colour studies. In the screening she revealed that she still hasn’t quite worked out how she feels about blue, and so the session opened up into a freeform discussion about the associations of the colour and how different languages approach it – all while two slide projectors clacked through cerulean compositions that slowly seemed to conform to the emotive qualities being described and discussed by the audience.”

Film Director Nicolas Humbert (Step Across the Border…) on Santoor:

… after very much enjoying your Santoor movie I especially liked the playfulness, the sensuousness and the sound side. A very distinct work. Following your own view and notion is surely one of the most important things. (10.4.99)

Hans- Dieter Delkus, Zeitschrift | magazine | NACHtBLENDE on Santoor :

This bubbly portrait of the Indian musician Nandkishor Muley is bursting with life and the joy of cinema. Framed by a variety of types of ornament, such as filmmaterial, patterns and decoration in motion, the camera accompanies the musician in a light-hearted yet experimental manner. Reminiscent of the American experimental filmmaker Marie Menken’s work, Deborah Phillips manipulates the camera, the film, cinema in general and thereby banishes strict categories of film genres: the film is equally documentary and experimental, both a music film and also animation. (1999)

FILMS BY THOMAS BARTELS | MUSIC & SOUND DESIGN BY WOLFGANG IN DER WIESCHE

THE DAY SLOWS DOWN AS IT PROGRESSES, D 2000, 14 min.

ATLIKARINCA, D 2003, 17 min.

IKILIIKKUJA – PERPETUUM MOBILE, D 2005, 5 min.

MICHANEVOMAI – ICH ERSINNE EINE LIST, D 2004, 10 min.

HAUT DER DINGE, D 2009, 6 min.
