Nach einem nun mehr fast zwei Jahre währenden Ausnahmezustand für künstlerisches Produzieren und Ausstellen und einem wieder und wieder verschobenen Eröffnungstermin rückt die Realisierung von HARD FACTS näher und näher. Als Verkaufsausstellung ersonnen, die natürlich sowohl durch ihren Charakter als auch durch den Titel auf die Entbehrungen vieler Künstlerinnen und Künstler während der Pandemie anspielt, nimmt HARD FACTS gleichzeitig mit einem zwinkernden Auge die Umtriebigkeiten der Kunstszene aufs Korn. Wir hoffen auf neugierige und begeisterte Kunstkäufer:innen, doch heißen wir natürlich auch ein weniger kauffreudiges Publikum willkommen.
After a state of emergency for artistic production and exhibition that has now lasted almost two years and an opening date that has been postponed again and again, the realisation of HARD FACTS is coming closer and closer. Imagined as a sales exhibition, which of course alludes to the privations of many artists during the pandemic both through its character and its title, HARD FACTS simultaneously takes aim at the hustle and bustle of the art scene with a twinkling eye. We hope for curious and enthusiastic art buyers, but of course we also welcome an audience that is less inclined to buy.
In der Ausstellung wird ein gemeinsamer Film von 18 Künstlerinnen und Künstlern des Hauses uraufgeführt, in dem sich einzelne Sequenzen zu einem Mosaik der hiesigen Künstlerschaft zusammenfügen.
The exhibition will feature the premiere of a joint film by 18 of the house’s artists, in which individual sequences come together to form a mosaic of the local artistic community.

“9 to 5”, gilt als Inbegriff konventioneller, durch den Arbeitsrhythmus bestimmter, Lebensentwürfe. In Abgrenzung hierzu wurden im Bereich der Kunst Konzepte, wie das kollaborative Arbeiten jenseits etablierter Strukturen, entwickelt. Ein paradigmatisches Feld dafür ist der Free Jazz: Wie auch bei den “freien Künsten” wird hier ein Freiheitsanspruch postuliert, der sich auf Gestaltungsprinzipien, aber auch auf gesellschaftliche Aspekte bezieht. Die Ausstellung “9 to 5 total music/art meeting” versteht sich als Plattform der Auseinandersetzung mit den für den Free Jazz zentralen Prinzipien – Improvisation und Kommunikation, ob nun im Umgang mit den bildnerischen bzw. musikalischen Materialien oder bezogen auf verschiedene Produktionsformen. Zum Begleitprogramm der Ausstellung gehört ein Abend von “9 to 5”, an dem Performances, Happenings und Konzerte das Verhältnis von bildender Kunst und Musik weiter ausloten und für eine freie, aber nicht verantwortungslose, Gestaltung von Kunst und Leben plädieren sollen.

About the exhibition:
“9 to 5” is considered the epitome of conventional lifestyles determined by the rhythm of work. In contrast to this, concepts such as collaborative work beyond established structures have been developed in the field of art. A paradigmatic field for this is Free Jazz: as with the “liberal arts”, a claim to freedom is postulated here that relates to creative principles, but also to social aspects. The exhibition “9 to 5 total music/art meeting” sees itself as a platform for dealing with the principles central to Free Jazz – improvisation and communication, whether in dealing with the visual or musical materials or in relation to various forms of production. The programme accompanying the exhibition includes an evening of “9 to 5”, in which performances, happenings and concerts will further explore the relationship between visual art and music and plead for a free, but not irresponsible, shaping of art and life.

Die Ausstellung “messpunkt” wird am 25. Oktober 2019 im WILKE ATELIER eröffnet und ist am 26. und 27. Oktober jeweils von 11 bis 19 Uhr zu sehen. Gastkünstler Wolfgang in der Wiesche zeigt experimentelle Fotografie und Malerei zum Abschluss seines zweimonatigen Arbeitsaufenthaltes.
