INFORMATION ON/ZU | patchbay |

Die patchbay ist in der Tontechnik ein Steckfeld, das die Verbindung zum Mischpult herstellt. Alle auf der Bühne notwendigen Tonkanäle werden in ihr gesammelt und weitergeleitet. Am anderen Ende werden sie auf die Eingänge der Mixerkonsole verteilt – im Bild ist sie interpretiert als die ‘soniq dance box’, die Sammelstelle ungefilterter roher Informationen. Wie das Bild selbst, eine (visuelle) Schnittstelle.
patchbay ist gleichsam die Transformation eines Songs, Präsenz, sein Echo, Szenen aus der Erinnerung, eine Bündelung narrativer Fragmente. Ohne Logik, unsere Sehnsucht nach einer Auflösung, Erklärung wird nur befriedigt, wenn wir nicht nach ihr suchen, wenn wir die Szenerie als Ganzes betrachten und alles in ihr gelten lassen – ‘why people crave FOR FACES’.

In sound engineering the patchbay is a device that makes the connection from the stage to the mixer. All necessary audio channels on stage are collected in it and get sent and distributed to the mixing console. In this art work it is interpreted as the ‘soniq dance box’, the collection center for unfiltered raw information. As the picture itself, a visual interface.
patchbay is like the transformation of a song, presence, it’s echo, scenes from the memory, a bundling of narrative fragments. Without logic, our longing for an explanation is only satisfied if we do not explicitly search for it, if we look at the scene as a whole and accept all fragments equally, – ‘why people crave FOR FACES’.
